Mission of Christ Church
Christ Church is motivated to be a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, Bible
based, Eucharisticly oriented Church. Preaching is expository preaching
from the Scriptures. We accept the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New
Testaments to be the infallible Word of God. We believe that the Lord
Jesus Christ is the only means of Salvation. Entrance into the Kingdom
of God is summed up in the Gospel of John, chapter 14, the 6th verse. “I
am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by
me.” [Jesus speaking]
Our Baptismal vows confirmed at our Confirmation are a full statement of
our faith. We recognize that quite often people go through the
sacraments as a rite of passage and they do not touch their hearts. We
offer opportunities for members to make a commitment of faith though
regular “altar calls” to make those times of commitment real in his or
her life. We believe that commitment to Jesus Christ is a life-changing
experience. We are literally transformed when we make the Lord of all
life the center of our life. Back to Top of Page
Christian Education
There are church school classes for children from kindergarten through
high school. At the present time there are 65 children enrolled in the
church school. They meet 9:30 a.m. in class and then join their parents
at the offertory at the 10:00 a.m. service. The adult class meets at
9:10 a.m. and finishes in time to go to the 10:00 a.m. service. First
Communion instruction for children is conducted several times during the
year to prepare the young children for communion. A confirmation class
is held each year for several months before the Bishop’s scheduled visit
for children in the 14 to 16 age range. Back to Top of

Spiritual Healing
Prayers for healing are
available every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to
join this prayer group. We have graduated our first class of Prayer Ministers who have completed
all three levels of Francis MacNutt’s School of healing prayer. They now
offer their ministry on Sunday morning for those who want prayers for
healing or who want to intercede for someone for healing. A longer time
of prayer counseling is available with two members of the healing team
by appointment. They listen, love and pray for those who come seeking
the Lord’s blessing. Back to Top of Page
Spooner House
Spooner house in Derby is a home that ministers to adults who are
homeless or facing some difficult life situation. On the first Monday of
each month we bus the residents to church for dinner. We join them for
dinner and conversation.
Golf Tournament
Once a year we sponsor a golf tournament along with Saint Paul’s Church
in Woodbury to raise money to support children’s programs in the greater
Oxford area. It is a big undertaking, it is a lot of fun, and it raises
a lot of money for the children.
Memorial Garden
There is a garden south of the
church where cremated remains can be interred. The person is then listed
on a brass plaque in the church. There is no charge for interment.
